Terms of Service

Last updated:

Language: English is the authoritative version. A Czech translation is provided in Podmínky služby; in case of any discrepancy, this English version prevails.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Methos service. They combine the rules for using the service (Part A) with the commercial terms for paid plans (Part B). By creating an account or using Methos, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Who we are

Methos is operated by:

  • Methos BiOS s.r.o.
  • Registered seat: Černého 834/32, Bystrc, 635 00 Brno, Czech Republic
  • Company ID (IČO): 24921424
  • Registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Regional Court in Brno (Krajský soud v Brně), file ref. C 151197
  • Contact: [email protected]

(hereinafter "Methos", "we", "us", or "Provider").

The person who creates and uses an account is referred to as the "User", "you", or "your".

2. What Methos is — and is not

Methos is a personal data vault and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It lets you:

  • upload and store your personal health and life data (lab reports, DNA exports, wearable data, notes) in encrypted form;
  • have that data normalised and organised so it can be searched; and
  • expose your own data back to you through an open protocol (MCP), so you can query and use it inside any compatible AI agent, application, or workflow you choose.

Methos is a technical enabler. We do the technical work — ingesting, normalising, encrypting, and exposing your data — so that you (and the tools you connect) can interpret it.

Methos is not a medical service, a health app, or a diagnostic tool. Methos itself does not perform any health analysis, give any advice, make any diagnosis, or make any clinical assessment. All interpretation of your data is done by you or by the external AI agents and tools you connect. Methos has no visibility into, and no control over, what those external tools do with data they retrieve.

No medical advice. Nothing provided by Methos is a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of anything you obtain through Methos. Any use of Methos, and any decision you make based on your data, is at your own risk.

Part A — Rules for using Methos

3. Account and registration

3.1 To use Methos you must create an account. Registration requires a valid email address that belongs to you.

3.2 Authentication is passwordless. By default you sign in via a single-use magic link sent to your registered email address. You may register a passkey (FIDO2/WebAuthn), which then becomes your primary sign-in method. Methos does not store or require a login password.

3.3 Each account has its own dedicated encryption key (the Master Password), created and held exclusively inside HashiCorp Vault (Transit engine). This key is never disclosed to you and is never accessible to Methos in usable form; it exists only within Vault, where it is used to derive purpose-specific keys (for wrapping your data-encryption keys and for pseudonymisation). It is not a login credential, you do not enter or manage it, and it is unrelated to any password (your authentication is passwordless — see §3.2).

3.4 You must provide truthful information and keep your credentials secure. You must not allow third parties to use your account, and you are responsible for activity carried out through it.

3.5 One account may hold one or more profiles. Access to data is scoped per profile.

4. Your data and your responsibilities

4.1 You decide what data you upload. You are responsible for having the right to upload any data you provide, and for not uploading data of other people without a lawful basis to do so.

4.2 Before any uploaded document is made searchable, you are shown the AI-normalised version and must review and confirm it. Nothing is embedded or made searchable until you confirm. You are responsible for the content you confirm.

4.3 You must use Methos lawfully and in accordance with these Terms, good morals, and applicable Czech and EU law. In particular, you must not:

  • interfere with the security, technical operation, or content of the service, or misuse it;
  • interfere with other users' use of the service;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its source code;
  • upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the service; or
  • use the service for any unlawful, unauthorised, or abusive purpose.

5. MCP access keys

5.1 You may create profile-scoped MCP API keys that let an external AI agent read the data in a profile. Each key is scoped to specific data categories and has an expiry you set.

5.2 The key secret is shown once and is not recoverable. You are responsible for safeguarding your keys and for the actions of any agent to which you give a key. You can revoke a key at any time; revocation takes effect immediately.

5.3 What an external agent does with data it retrieves through your key is outside Methos's control and is your responsibility.

6. Technical requirements

6.1 Using Methos requires an internet connection. Methos is an online service; there is no offline mode.

6.2 Costs of your internet connection and data transfer are yours and depend on your own provider.

6.3 We may publish updates and changes to the service. We may modify features, settings, and the interface. We aim to keep the service available and functional but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

7. Availability, maintenance, and suspension

7.1 We take reasonable steps within our technical means to keep the service available, but we are not liable for its availability.

7.2 We may interrupt or limit the service for maintenance, repairs, or updates. The service may therefore not be available at all times.

7.3 For serious reasons — such as a reasonable suspicion that you are breaching these Terms — we may block or suspend your account (temporarily or permanently). Serious reasons include, in particular, unlawful handling of other people's data, providing false information, or repeated or gross breach of these Terms. We will notify you of a block and its cause by email. Blocking lasts for the time necessary to clarify the situation.

7.4 Using Methos is voluntary. You may stop using it at any time and close your account. Withdrawing your consent to processing (see the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Consent) results in the end of your use of the service to the extent the processing is necessary to provide it.

8. Intellectual property

8.1 All intellectual property rights in the Methos software, databases, trademarks, and brand elements (including the name "Methos" and "MET") belong to Methos. The Methos codebase is proprietary.

8.2 We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence, limited to you and to the lifetime of your account, to use the service for the purpose described in these Terms. You may not copy, modify, translate, create derivative works from, decompile, reverse engineer, sublicense, rent, sell, or otherwise make the service available to third parties beyond this licence.

8.3 You retain all rights in the data you upload. We do not claim ownership of your data and do not use it for any purpose other than providing the service to you (see the Privacy Policy).

Part B — Commercial terms (paid features)

Note. Basic use of Methos is currently free. The exact commercial model — including whether paid features are offered as a subscription, a one-off purchase, or otherwise, and the precise boundary between free and paid functionality — is not yet finalised. This Part sets out the general rules that will apply once paid features are introduced; the specific scope, price, and billing model will be shown in the service before you make any purchase.

9. Paid features and pricing

9.1 Basic use of Methos is currently free. We may introduce paid features ("Premium").

9.2 Where paid features are offered, their scope, price, and billing model are set out in the service at the time you order. You are only charged for what you expressly order.

9.3 Where payment is required, it is processed by a third-party payment provider (currently expected to be Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record), which handles billing, invoicing, and applicable taxes/VAT. Card details are handled by that provider; Methos does not receive or store your card data.

9.4 You agree to receive invoices in electronic form.

10. Payment and non-payment

10.1 A paid arrangement is concluded when we confirm your order or begin providing the paid feature, whichever is earlier.

10.2 If you fail to pay a due amount, we may, after a reasonable additional period, suspend the paid feature until payment is made. You are not entitled to an extension of any paid period, a discount, or a refund for the period during which a paid feature was suspended for non-payment.

10.3 You are not entitled to a refund of, or a discount on, amounts already paid where you have not used the ordered paid feature for reasons on your side, save where mandatory law provides otherwise (including any statutory consumer withdrawal right, where applicable).

11. Term and termination

11.1 Either party may terminate a paid arrangement. Where the arrangement is recurring, you may cancel at any time through the service or your payment provider.

11.2 We may withdraw from (terminate) a paid arrangement for a material breach of these Terms — in particular non-payment that is not cured within a reasonable additional period.

11.3 On termination or account closure, your data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Closing your account deletes all of your data (already available). Your GDPR rights (including export and erasure) apply regardless of any paid status.

Note on paid features. If paid features are introduced, the handling of stored data on cancellation of a paid feature alone (as distinct from closing the account) will be stated in the Privacy Policy. Closing your account always deletes your data, and your right to export and to erasure under the GDPR applies in all cases.

Part C — General

12. Liability

12.1 Use of Methos is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.

12.2 We are not liable for third-party services (e.g. the quality of your internet connection or telecommunications services), nor for unavailability caused by circumstances of a technical nature outside our control.

12.3 Where you have paid for a feature, our liability for damage caused by our technical or software equipment is limited to the amount you paid for that feature in the period preceding the claim. We are not liable for damage you could not have anticipated when the contract was concluded.

12.4 Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under mandatory law (including sections of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code) — in particular liability for harm to natural rights or caused intentionally or by gross negligence.

13. Force majeure

We are not liable for failure or delay caused by an extraordinary, unforeseeable, and insurmountable obstacle arising independently of our will (e.g. cyber-attack, war, sanctions, government measures). Our performance is postponed for the duration and to the extent of such circumstances.

14. Dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. The courts of the Czech Republic have jurisdiction over disputes; the competent court is determined by the seat of Methos, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that give a consumer the right to sue or be sued in the courts of their place of residence.

The body competent for the out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes is the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce), with its registered office at Gorazdova 1969/24, Praha 2, Company ID (IČ): 000 20 869, website: http://www.coi.cz. The European Consumer Centre Czech Republic (ESC), operating at the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, with its registered office at Štěpánská 567/15, 120 00 Praha 2, website: http://www.evropskyspotrebitel.cz, provides information and advice on consumer rights when purchasing cross-border in another EU country, Norway, or Iceland.

15. Changes to these Terms

15.1 We may amend these Terms where there is a reasonable need. We will notify you in advance — through the service or by email — of the effective date of the changed terms, at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Changes of a purely technical or informational nature, or changes that do not worsen your position, may take effect sooner.

15.2 If you do not agree with the new Terms, you may stop using the service and, for any paid arrangement, terminate it by delivering your disagreement no later than the effective date of the change. The arrangement then ends on the later of the effective date of the change or the delivery of your disagreement.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, ineffective, or unenforceable, that provision is deemed removed and the remaining provisions continue in effect, unless the provision cannot be separated from the rest. The parties will replace it with a provision achieving the same, or the closest possible, result.
